So I have been working on a way to fix the points/playoff system they are using right now. I hate the win you are in thing and I feel 16 drivers are too many to be putting in the playoffs. So I’m gonna try to explain my system

NASCAR wants playoffs so there will be a playoff system

Races 1-26 is the regular season like normal

But only the top 10 make the playoffs and it’s based on points not wins.

The way the playoffs are set is by bonus/playoff points won

The top three finishers get points
5 to the winner
3 to second
1 to third

Other points can be won by

1 point for:
Leading a lap
Leading at halfway

3 points for:
Leading the most laps
Fastest pit time
Winning the pole once we go back to qualifying

Those points are added up and that’s how the top 10 will start the playoffs

Those points will also reset places 11-35

Then they run 5 races and the points rest the same way with the top 5 continuing on

Then after 4 races, they reset once again with the top 3 running for the championship.

This way we still have the importance of winning to build your points but also consistency plays a hand. 
As well as running near the front, those bonus points could play huge

Plus you would have two points races going on at the same time In the regular season.

Just an idea, I know it needs some adjustments
