First, thank God it’s NASCAR season!!
Now, a few thoughts. I enjoyed the Clash. Reminded my of old school Friday and Saturday night dirt track racing from when I was younger at Williams Grove and Silver Springs Speedways in Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania. Went to my first race at 6 months old at the Springs way back in 1978. So I enjoyed the format and the racing. Now, i don’t think it would work for a points race but for what it was, it was great.
I like the moving of these exhibition races around. It’s would be hard with the Clash because it’s freezing in most of the country in February but having it at different venues is a good idea. Just like I think having the All-Star race at different non cup tracks would be a great idea. What would be wrong with having the All-Star at Iowa, Chicagoland, Kentucky, or even Rockingham and North Wilkesboro. Or even some other track that may still be running that at one time hosted a NASCAR sanctioned race. It would be a win win for everyone.
And last, well I don’t really have anything other then let’s have a great season and enjoy the sport we love. Let’s stop the bickering between boomers and this new generation of fans. Change is good but so is what the sport has came from. We can all enjoy it and I hope we can all share our opinions without someone getting butt hurt. After all it’s a sport, none of this truly affects our lives (unless you work for a race team). And if you can’t agree, just agree to disagree. I am NASCAR and have been for 38 years. Loved it then, love it now. Let’s Go!!
